Intro to Therapeutic Rock Climbing

Service Description
Participants will learn the fundamentals of indoor rock climbing, including: use of safety equipment, how to belay, rock climbing techniques and fundamentals, safe use of auto-belay equipment, and much more. Participants will learn to incorporate mindfulness techniques, as well as CBT-derived methods of managing fear and emotions, approaches to coping with failure, exercises in trust, and much more with their climbing experiences. Participants will be guided by a trusted clinical therapist, and overseen and instructed by professional rock climbing instructors. Each two hour session includes: - a warmup and preparation phase - therapeutic climbing experiences both solo and with partners - group process and discussion over a healthy snack - additional climbing - a therapeutic, guided group debrief and processing period Participants must complete the first session of the program to become oriented to safety protocols and belay certified; upon completion of the initial 3 part course, participants may register for single group sessions.
